Linopirdine is an enhancer of the release of several neurotransmitters, affecting neurotransmission and being used as a cognitive enhancer for the treatment of neurological disorders including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinsonism, and depression. It increases acetylcholine release in rat hippocampal CA1 neurons by blocking M-type (Kv7.2/7.3; KCNQ2/3) K+ current with an IC50 value of 2.4 µM.
