Amarogentin exhibits anti-oxidative, anti-tumour, and anti-diabetic activities. Amarogentin promotes apoptosis, arrests G2/M cell cycle and downregulates of PI3K/Akt/mTOR signalling pathways and displays immunomodulatory effects in human mast cells and keratinocytes. It inhibits the growth of SNU-16 human gastric cancer cells (IC50 = 12.4 μM) and increases apoptosis when used at a concentration of 50 μM. Amarogentin dose-dependently reduces tumor growth in a SNU-16 nude mouse xenograft model.
