Epristeride is a medication primarily used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), which is an enlarged prostate gland. Epristeride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor. It works by inhibiting the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase, which converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a potent androgen that contributes to prostate growth.
